So I was feeling pretty down about not getting the Disney program as I had done the worst and convinced myself that I nailed the interview, told myself I was a sure thing and then POP! Dream gone. Although I was completely gutted I didn't let it get me down for long. I knew I did not want to spend the summer at home and figured their must be other options. Instead of looking at other companies I just figured I'd give Yummy Jobs a look over to see if they did other programs in Orlando and low and behold there it was. Loews Work and Travel at Universal Studios Orlando.
My first impression was that it would be working in the parks but it is actually a program that allows you to work in the hotels at Universal Studios. It still had the applications open so I thought what the heck. The application was very similar to Disney. Yummy Jobs had kept the documents that I had uploaded for Disney so that was all easier I just changed up my CV and Cover Letter and reuploaded them. So intend of spending months perfecting my application I had discovered the program and sent it all off within an hour. Here's the full list of steps and questions if you do want to prepare:
1. Qualifying questions - if you are eligible for the program, speak fluent english, if you're over 18 etc..
2. Basic information - Name, DOB, address etc.. it will also ask you to make a Yummy Jobs account
3. Profile Photo - Upload a photo against a blank background, no hair in your face, no hats, sunglasses extreme hair colour or piercings and SMILE!
4. Contact Information - Phone number, emergency contact and their address
5. Education - Current University, recent grades, previous high school and grades.
6. Work Experience - Put down relevant and recent employment, don't list every job you have ever done
7. Date of availability - earliest date you are available, it's as soon as possible list the current date.
8. Additional Questions - I cannot remember the specifics however they were similar to Disney which were "Why you value cultural exchange and interaction?" and "Final Comments"
9. Documents - Upload your CV and cover letter, if you already have a yummy jobs account your previous documents will still be saved but it is essential you tailor your CV and cover letter to Loews instead of Disney
10. Previous Visa - If you have worked in the USA before or not, if yes you'll be asked to upload a scan of the visa
11. Passport - upload a scan of your passport and fill in necessary information
12. Previous Yummy Jobs Experience - Whether you have done a program before including any Disney program and where you heard about Yummy Jobs
13. SEND!
I didn't put as much into this application as I did Disney since I had only just found out about the program, so when I sent off the application I completely blocked it from my memory to prevent getting my hopes up. I got an email unsuspectingly about a week later telling me I had an interview. The big thing with the Disney program is that there is so much information online about the program, hundreds of blogs and Youtube videos but the Universal Program had only been around for about a year so very few people heard about it. This meant I couldn't swat up like I did Disney which I was surprisingly happy about. It just meant I would be a lot more chilled and more myself rather than rattling off answers that I had memorised.
