So it’s been a while, 2 and a half years in fact since I’ve written anything. I knew I would stop writing my blog when I was out in Orlando as there was so much going on. Maybe one day soon I’ll go into detail about what it was like especially dealing with covid in Orlando and the shutdown of the program. For now I wanted to give a little update!
After we got sent home in April 2020 I moved back in with my folks and started working back at my old job. I also started my masters degree in January 2021 which I have just finished a couple months ago. Since finishing my degree I have been applying for grad jobs as I always wanted to return to Orlando however I didn’t know how long I would be waiting. I had already spent so many years applying for it to be cut short, and then 2 years nearly to the day we got an update.
At 4pm on Friday 25th of March we got an email from Disney International Programs stating that the Cultural Representative Program is returning. It states the program will return in phases with the first participants starting in August 2022 and they sent out emails to everyone whose program was cut short or cancelled. So far they are accepting back Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Norway and the UK.
At the end of the email it had a link to reapply, the term reapply might sound scary given that those receiving the email were already accepted however I believe it is just a formality. A lot of people who were on the program have moved on with their lives so reapplying just shows we are interested in coming back. It also says we will attend a virtual interview which is great news to me being so far up north.
I got home from work at 5pm the day the emails came out and started on my application the minute I got home. I redid my cover letter and cv to reflect what I’ve been doing since the program and sent off my application a couple of hours later. I’m hoping we’ll hear back soon about our interviews but for now it’s time to start saving.
We’re finally going home!
