Day before
So my flight from Inverness to London Gatwick was at 7am on Wednesday 5th of September so I woke up about 4am. We were delayed setting off so I landed after 9am. I took the Gatwick Express to Victoria Station and then the underground to Oxford Street to do a bit of shopping. I met some friends for lunch as well at Leicester Square then got the underground to Epping at 5:30pm. I made it to my AirBnB for 6:30pm and met some other applicants for dinner at Wildwood. I then went to bed for about 9:30pm to try and get a good night sleep!
Outfit
For my outfit I totally got last minute jitters so I went shopping a few days before and bought a whole new outfit. I wore a white blouse with a grey check blazer both from New Look and plain black jeans from TK Maxx. I wore it with black shoes with gold clasps from New Look. I didn't wear any jewelry and I would recommend doing this if you go to Pre-Screens.
Pre-Screen!
I left my AirBnb really early in the morning, about quarter past 7 and took a slow walk to Epping High Street. I went and chilled in Starbucks and luckily another applicant had the same idea so I got chatting to her and slowly other applicants starting filtering in before we went across to the Yummy Jobs office across the road. We headed inside and got given our labels with our group and individual interview times. My individual interview was originally at 3:50pm however since I was flying home after the interview I asked if there was any chance I could have mine earlier and they were so accommodating so I'm so grateful! There was 30 of us in total however I believe there was supposed to be 32.
Presentation
So like with all Yummy Jobs interviews they start with a really exciting presentation to get you hyped up. As an icebreaker they asked some fun Disney inspired questions which if you guessed correctly you won a prize. They asked:
What are the resorts surrounding the Seven Seas Lagoon?
What the names of the 4 Disney Cruise Ships are?
What different transport is available at Disney World?
If anyone could name any 4 Disney Resorts?
Which World Showcase pavilion doesn't light up during Illuminations?
and Can anyone name any 4 of the World Showcase pavilions? (I won a Disney pencil for answering this one!)
We were shown 5 videos in total during the presentation about Disney Housing and just life on the CRP. We were also told the dates to go out which were May 2019 to January 2020 which was much earlier than we thought! They also told us we would find out our results on Friday the 21st at the latest but most likely it would be Friday 14th of September. We then just had to chill around Epping for our group interviews.
Group Interview
So my group interview was at 12:15pm with Lucy-Ann and Mark and there were 8 of us in our group interview. We had to pass over our CV, Passport and our photo (you can find the photo I used down below). The group interview started off with us turning to the person beside us and finding out their name, where they are from, their current job, their favourite Disney memory and a fun fact about them and then we had to introduce them to the group. We then had our group activity so we were split into 2 teams of 4 and we each had to create an attraction for the UK pavilion and present it to everyone. The next activity was we were given a British item to sell to the group as if we were selling it to someone in the Uk pavilion. The items given our in my group were:
Bodingtons (which is what I got)
Winnie the Pooh
Victoria Sponge Cake
Tartan Fabric
Fish and Chips
Roast Dinner
Cadbury's Chocolate
Manchester United Football Shirt
We then had to present the item which we brought to represent our home town.
Creation/ Item
So as with every application round you have to bring an item that represents your home town but this time they have emphasized that you should be creative as you will be assessed on creativity and originality. So as I live in the Scottish Highlands and we live in the middle of the Malt Whisky Trail I knew I wanted to do something with Whiskey. A hobby my parents have taken up is wood burning which they do on whisky barrel lids so I thought that would be great however whisky barrel lids are way too big and not practical so I did wood burning's of my 3 local distilleries on small pieces of wood. I also made a tartan pouch to keep them in.
Here is the photo I also brought with me, it is different to the photo I uploaded with my application as that was a selfie and this one is more passport style. This is the outfit I was going to wear to the interview but I changed my mind last minute.
Individual Interview
Ok so honestly I don't remember as much about my individual interview compared to my group interview as I was a bit more nervous! So my individual interview was changed to Mark since I got my interview moved forward. It was mainly just a conversation but the questions I do remember was he asked about my availability (I said ASAP), he asked me to talk through my job history so I spoke a little about each job, he also asked if I had done a program before so I mentioned how I had completed the Loews Summer Program. Here's a few of the other questions I remember being asked:
If I was to speak to your colleagues what would they say about you?
What makes you unique as an individual?
What is your motivation for the program?
How would you find living away from home during the holidays?
How did you cope in Florida on your previous program?
Do you have any tattoos or piercings?
How would you find living with others?
and then if I had any questions for him.
And that's it! Not gonna lie I am wracking my brain about the results but only time will tell!
