Orlando at Halloween

Halloween in Orlando is by far my favourite time of year! Orlando transforms from the 'theme park capital of the world' to the Halloween capital of the world, with fun activities for all ages throughout Orlando. From Mickey's not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando it is the perfect time of year to be spoiled for choice.

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

This is the perfect event if you are visiting Disney World as a family with young kids or as die-hard Disney fans. At Mickey's not-So-Scary Halloween Party guests can dress in costume, trick-or-treat throughout Magic Kingdom and watch the Halloween Parade and Fireworks. At an extra fee you can experience all of these perks however if you do not know what you are expecting, you could leave disappointed. Don't get me wrong it's a great event for kids and you can meet Disney characters that are never normally at the parks. But if you don't enjoy meeting characters it basically means spending $72 each to get free candy and watch fireworks. The regular fireworks are more than enough for me personally so I'll be waiting until I can go with young kids for them to enjoy.

Dates: September 2nd, 2016 - October 31st, 2016

Location: Magic Kingdom

Time: 7pm - 12am on select nights

Admission: Ages 3 - 9: $63; Ages 10 and up: $72

Best suited for: Families with young kids

Halloween Horror Nights

On select nights, the streets of Universal Studios Florida are taken over by hordes of horrifying mutants, monsters and maniacs. With nine haunted houses to make your way through, live shows, scare zones and shows there is more than enough to experience. At an extra fee you can experience your favourite tv shows and movies such as American Horror Story, The Walking Dead, The Exorcist and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. HHN is a favourite for young adults and those without kids as it is WAY too terrifying to bring along anyone under 13. This for me is the true embodiment of Halloween as it is literally terrifying, for those who hate being scared maybe give HHN a pass but is truly worth the extra cost.

Dates: September 16th, 2016 - October 31, 2016 on select nights

Location: Universal Orlando Resort

Time: 6:30pm - 1am

Admission: between $55.99 - $104.99

Best suited for: Young adults, families without kids

Halloween Spooktacular

SeaWorld Orlando invites guests to trick-or-treat at Halloween Spooktacular, a family-friendly event where you can dance with sea creatures and create sea themed arts and crafts. Included in park admission, guests can watch Halloween shows and meet characters only out during the Halloween period. This event is great in the fact that there is no extra admission fee, like Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, it's great for families with kids but if you don't have any, there isn't really much point to head to SeaWorld specifically for Halloween.
