This is a guide to the Top Disney World ride attractions and will hopefully come in handy to those who prefer the adrenaline rush off bigger attractions.
#10 Dinosaur
Park: Animal Kingdom
Thrill Factor: 6/10
A trip in the Time Rover might not be on some peoples list and if was a toss up between this and Kali River Rapids however this one took the number 10 position due to the fact you don't get wet. It's a fun, high-speed attraction in the dark as you dodge animatronic Dinosaurs as you try to bring a Dinosaur back to the future with you before the meteor hits. It's a rather old ride with a rather funny pre-show video but it has quite a sizeable fan following. I included it in this list mainly for nostalgic reasons but if you enjoy water rides I would use your FastPass on Kali River Rapids.
#9 Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
Park: Magic Kingdom
Thrill Factor: 7/10
The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is the newest attraction at Walt Disney World and with that comes the longest line. Purely due to it's lengthy wait time is why it didn't get higher on the list but it is faster than Big Thunder and to make it even better the seats swing from side to side. It's defiantly one of a kind. It is however rather short but it is one of the smoothest rides I have ever been on.
#8 Haunted Mansion
Park: Magic Kingdom
Thrill Factor: 5/10
The Haunted Mansion is home to 999 happy haunts that are dying to meet you. It is a slow-moving dark ride that takes you around the property of the Haunted Mansion. It might not be a big thrill ride but it has certainly grown in popularity over the years and has a huge following. It's on this list for me as I have certainly appreciated it more over the years, as a kid it scared the heck out of me but now I always make sure it's towards the top of my list.
#7 Space Mountain
Park: Magic Kingdom
Thrill Factor: 8/10
Space Mountain blasts you into outer space, as a dollar coaster it's great, the theming maybe a bit outdated but it's rather retro and charming. The only reason it isn't higher on the list is due to the fact I still get nervous putting my arms in the air as there is scaffolding and tracks all above you.
#6 Soarin'
Park: Epcot
Thrill Factor: 6/10
I have only been on Soarin' Over California so far so I have no idea what Soarin' Over the World is like but I have only heard good things. The giant screen combined with the swinging of the huge gliders and the smells of the locations really create a believable experience and is a must do. It is arguably the best ride at Epcot so the wait time can really increase.
#5 Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Park: Magic Kingdom
Thrill Factor: 9/10
The runaway mine train takes you barrelling through a barren landscape of the Old West. The 'wildest ride in the wilderness' also happens to be the most popular, it's not as fast or thrilling as say Expedition Everest but it's certainly up there.
#4 Expedition Everest
Park: Animal Kingdom
Thrill Factor: 9/10
Expedition Everest takes you straight to the heart of the Himalayas where you not only go backwards but you also encounter a yeti. The attention to detail and the theming is as impressive as the ride itself. Although some effects on the ride no longer work such as the actual yeti which now does not move at all. Despite the flawed effects it is still an amazing coaster, the queue is in my opinion the best for theming out of all the attractions.
#3 Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
Park: Hollywood Studios
Thrill factor: 10/10
Definitely the most intense ride by Disney, the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is a roller coaster in the dark with that blasts Aerosmith. Although the wait time is always horrifically long and the majority of the queue is outside in the heat, the ride itself is worth it.
#2 The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Park: Hollywood Studios
Thrill Factor: 10/10
This has to be the most favoured ride in all of Disney World, The Tower of Terror has gained a huge fan base due to it's ingenious theming and spooky staff. The free-fall thrill ride has such an elaborate story it resulted in a movie being made. For some guests it may take a lot of convincing to get on the ride but it is totally worth it. The actual drops are the least scary to me, I find the pre-ride video much more scary.
#1 Splash Mountain
Park: Magic Kingdom
Thrill Factor: 8/10
This log flume ride features a story from the movie Song of the South and ends with a huge drop into the Briar Patch. It may not score high on the thrill factor scale but it made the top of my list purely for nostalgic reasons. It has great Audio Animatronics, and fun little drops that get you hyped for the final big drop. It is totally worth using a FastPass+ on purely for that drop, maybe if you aren't in the mood to get a little wet it's not the best for you but sometimes you can make it off completely dry. It is always the first place I run to and will always be my favourite ride at Walt Disney World.
