That's right I'm back! I took a week off due to work but i'm back with the top quick service restaurants at Universal Orlando. It's no secret that the food at Universal isn't on par with Disney World but it does still have some easy stops that will get you through a day at the parks. There are a couple quick service restaurants in this list that I have not eaten at myself but they are raved about online.
#10 Bumblebee Man's Taco Truck
Park: Universal Studios
Price Range: $7 - $10
This is one of the quick service restaurants that I haven't tried but it has been raved about online. I'm not much of a taco person but I know plenty of people that love to stop here. Located in the Simpsons area of Universal Studios, this outdoor food truck serves soft-shell tacos with a choice of fillings, including fish, chicken and steak.
#9 Mel's Drive-In
Park: Universal Studios
Price Range: $9 - $12
Back in the day, George Lucas produced the movie American Graffiti, a film based in the 1960s where teens hung out at a diner known as Mel's Drive-In. This diner has been re-created perfectly down to the vintage cars in the parking lot. The menu is as you would expect a 1960s diner to be like, burgers, onion rings, milk shakes and root beer floats. Just to top it all off, every table comes with its own mini jukebox.
#8 Moe's Southwest Grill
Park: CityWalk
Price Range: $3 - $9
Most places on this list aren't necessarily catered towards vegetarians, but whenever I go with friends or family who are they always wanna stop by Moe's. Moe's Southwest Grill serves up food like burritos, tacos, quesadillas, nachos and salads and not to mention the free chips and salsa with every order!
#7 Monsters Cafe
Park: Universal Studios
Price Range: $7 - $16
Monsters Cafe isn't necessarily on this list because of it's food, but for it's theming. This quick service restaurant is dedicated to classic monster movies like The Wolfman, The Mummy and Frankenstein's Monster, and plays these movies throughout the restaurant. There is posters, props and other fun movie items on display in the restaurant. It has rather peculiar choices in food from Lasagna to meat loaf.
#6 Comic Strip Cafe
Park: Islands of Adventure
Price Range: $7 - $14
Comic Strip Cafe used to be well known for serving rather awful food, but since they upgraded the recipes, it is now on par with other quick service restaurants throughout the park. They have a range of dishes to choose from including Fried Chicken, Fish & Chips, Hot Dogs, Burgers, Chinese and Italian dishes. The Chinese dishes are still rather bad but it makes the list because it is normally pretty quiet compared to other spots around the park. No matter what time I visit, I'm always able to get my food and grab a seat in great time which is more than can be said for other quick service restaurants.
#5 Red Oven Pizza Bakery
Park: CityWalk
Price Range: $12 - $14
One of the newest additions to the dining scene on Universal CityWalk, Red Oven Pizza Bakery has quickly become a guest favourite. It creates wood-fired, thin-crust, artisanal pizzas with a wide range of toppings from traditional pepperoni to the more adventurous arugula or basil pesto. There are also choices of salads as well as beer and wine.
#4 The Three Broomsticks
Park: Islands of Adventure
Price Range: $9 - $50
This is another spot I've never eaten at however it's not for lack of trying. Every time I have tried to eat here the line is out the door, not to mention the prices are pretty steep. It's widely popular not necessarily for the food but for the theming. It serves traditional British dishes such as Cornish Pasties and Steak Pie, not to mention the Great Feast Platter which for $50 you can get a variety of choices to split between 4 people.
#3 Fast Food Boulevard
Park: Universal Studios
Price Range: $3.69 - $13.99
This quick service spot makes the top of the list for it's selection of food to choose from as well as it's great theming. This area features multiple food counters including Krusty Burger, Cletus' Chicken Shack, and The Frying Dutchman which features a different fried seafood. The chicken and waffle sandwich with maple syrup mayo is a guest favourite. Around the corner from the food counters is Moe's Tavern which serves Duff Beer and the Flaming Moe, a non-alcoholic drink which to be honest is more of a novelty purchase.
#2 Panda Express
Park: CityWalk
Price Range: $2 - $10
I have already mentioned in a previous post about my love for Panda Express. I get that its a chain restaurant so it's not exactly specific to the Universal Parks which is the only reason it didn't take the number one spot, but nether less it does amazing chinese food. If you haven't tried the orange chicken you are missing out it is absolutely fantastic! Due to it being so good though you are in for a bit of a wait.
#1 Thunder Falls Terrace
Park: Islands of Adventure
Price Range: $9 - $16
This made it to number one for the carnivore in me. Thunder Falls Terrace has a mouth-watering selection from sizzling BBQ Ribs and Chicken Sandwiches to Burgers and Turkey Legs. It does a selection of salads, soups and wraps for those whoo don't eat meat but if you don't like the smell of rotisserie meat, it's maybe not the place for you. It's a great location away from the busy streets of Hogsmeade and also has a great view of the lagoon.
